Asia Community Activities in Houston


The 2008 NCSS Annual Conference will be held in Houston, Nov. 14-16, 2008. All Asia Community activities will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008. All registered conference attendees are welcome!

7:00-8:00 a.m. - Breakfast/Business Meeting
Members will discuss community goals and hold elections. Please purchase a ticket for this meeting when you register for the conference. Room 329 at the Hilton Americas-Houston.
8:00-9:00 a.m. - Teachers’ Presentations
At least two teachers will present dynamic social studies lessons about an area of East Asia and Southeast Asia. Room 329 at the Hilton Americas-Houston.
11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. - Poster Session
Co-chairs and members will be share information about the Asia Community. Resource materials for teachers from many Asia-related professional development institutions and resource centers will be available. Foyer area outside room 330 of the Convention Center.
5:15-6:15 p.m. - Sponsored Session
Entitled “Embracing the Digital Future: Exemplary Internet Resources for Teaching about Asia,” this session will highlight exemplary websites for curriculum, information resources, blogs, and multimedia sources on Asia. Room 332B of the Convention Center.
